As a senior leader in the field of social innovation, Allyson is currently a thought partner, consultant and mentor with a stated purpose: “to help people and organizations do good – better! Especially at points of transition”. Her current focus is on initiatives that create and enable hope, agency and belonging.
In this capacity, she excels as a facilitator, especially in environments that engage diverse stakeholders. She is uniquely positioned to take input from a variety of sources and create an implementable way for groups to move forward – together.
Before transitioning to consulting, Allyson was the President and CEO of Enactus Canada, where she helped to ignite the potential of Canada’s future leaders.
Prior to that she was the VP, Impact at the MaRS Discovery District, where she helped build and support a variety of programs like the Centre for Impact Investing, MaRS Solutions Lab, Studio [Y], incubating B Corps in Canada and she led a ten-year initiative to create a culture of social innovation in this country called Social Innovation Generation or SiG. During that time, she advised hundreds of social ventures on how to make money and make a social impact, created untold networks, and advised leaders in government, academia, nonprofits, and businesses.
Allyson is also an experienced educator having taught in the MBET program at U Waterloo, Singularity University, and now as the Social Impact Faculty at Wavemakers, where she loves the opportunity to teach as an avatar. She was also the Thinker in Residence for the Don Dunstan Foundation in Australia and a Senior Fellow for the McConnell Foundation for several years.
