Eligibility

  • Who can apply for the Outstanding Social Purpose Professional award?

    • Any individual in a leadership role within a Canadian business (any size, any industry, any role). Self-nominations and third-party nominations are both welcome.

  • Can nonprofits and charities apply?

    • The "Outstanding Social Purpose Company" award is open to for-profit businesses only. However, nonprofits and charities can be part of partnership nominations for "Most Innovative Social Impact Partnership."

  • Do I need to be a Greater Purpose member to apply?

    • No. Non-members are welcome to apply for a fee. Members receive complimentary applications (tier-dependent).

  • Can I apply for multiple categories?

    • Yes. Individuals and organizations can submit applications across multiple relevant categories.


Application Process

  • What does the application involve?

    • Applications are submitted online and include organization/individual details, impact narrative, supporting data, and optional additional materials. Specific requirements vary by category.

  • Can I save my application and return to it?

    • Yes. You can save your progress and return before the deadline.

  • When is the deadline?

    • Appllication dates for 2026 coming soon

  • How much does it cost to apply?

    • Greater Purpose members: Complimentary (tier-dependent)
    • Non-members: pay a fee per application


Judges & Selection

  • Who judges the awards?

    • An independent panel of purpose-led business experts evaluates all applications based on impact, innovation, authenticity, leadership, and integration.

  • When will finalists and winners be announced?

    • Finalists: At Greater Purpose Conference East (Toronto)
    • Winners: At Greater Purpose Conference East (Toronto)

  • How many finalists and winners are selected?

    • Each category recognizes 1 Winner and up to 4 Finalists.

Recognition

  • What do winners receive?

    • Recognition at Greater Purpose Conference East
    • Winner designation and trophy
    • National media and PR support
    • Featured placement on Greater Purpose platforms
    • Winner badge for marketing use

  • What do finalists receive?

    • Recognition at Greater Purpose Conference East
    • Finalist designation
    • Featured placement on Greater Purpose platforms
    • Finalist badge for marketing use

  • Will I be notified if I'm not selected as a finalist?

    • Yes. All applicants will be notified of their application status.

Other Questions

  • Can I nominate someone else or another organization?

    • Yes. Third-party nominations are welcome for all categories.

  • Can past winners or finalists apply again?

    • Yes. Organizations and individuals can apply in subsequent years.

  • Who is eligible to apply?

    The Outstanding Social Purpose Company Award is open to corporations, partnerships, and other businesses with residence or operations in Canada that have demonstrated significant contributions to social purpose.

     

    The Innovative Partnership Award is open to companies eligible for the Outstanding Social Purpose Company Award, as well as charities and non-profits based in Canada.

     

    The Outstanding Social Purpose Professional Award is open to individuals working in corporations, partners, and other businesses with residence or operations in Canada.

     

    Specific eligibility criteria vary by category. Check the individual award categories for details.  

  • When is the application deadline?

    The application deadline is Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at 12 am EST.


  • When will applications open for submission?

    Applications open on Monday, June 23, 2025 at  9 am EST.



  • Is there a fee to apply?

    The fee to apply for an award is $179 + HST.

    There is no fee for Greater Purpose members.


  • Can I nominate someone for an award?

    Yes, you can nominate a person or business according to the award criteria.


  • How are winners selected?

    A panel of experts in social purpose and impact partnerships review applications based on the award criteria. Adjudicators may not vote on an award for which they or their company is nominated.


  • When and where is the awards ceremony?

    The Greater Purpose Awards are presented at the inaugural Greater Purpose Conference in Toronto in October 2025.

  • Can past winners re-apply?

    This is the inaugural year of the Greater Purpose Awards, but in future years, past winners will be able to re-apply.


  • Can I submit more than one application?

    Yes, multiple applications may be submitted across different categories.


  • Will there be recognition for finalists?

    Yes, Award winners and Finalists will receive a physical award at the 2025 Greater Purpose Conference in Toronto.   


    They will also be recognized through our media and distribution channels.
