Mike is dedicated to inspiring and hosting juicy, generative conversations, in service to life. Juicy, in that they get to the heart of the matter, confronting the vexing challenges of our time. Generative, in that they critique or reject the status quo, striving for new approaches and solutions. And in service to all life—human and non-human around the world.
The intricate, delicate, interconnected web of life on Earth is so easy to take for granted. Yet cultural norms and patterns are pulling us through mass extinctions and toward climate collapse. Meanwhile, wealth and power are concentrated in fewer and fewer hands, while most of the global population struggles and politicians argue about how best to drive growth in GDP.
Governments and NGOs have significant roles to play—but so, too, does business. And that’s where Mike is focusing his work—inspiring and igniting the movements toward social purpose business.
This is core to the work of his advisory firm, Junxion Strategy, which exists to accelerate the shift to the purpose economy, and envisions economy remade to serve the common good. Junxion provides fractional strategy and impact support to the courageous companies and NGOs that are exemplifying social purpose leadership.
The leadership development required to drive this transition is a large part of the work at Hollyhock, where Mike is a long-time board member. Hollyhock exists to renew people's connections to themselves, one another, and the natural world, and envisions a loving and living planet for all.
And finally the Canadian Purpose Economy Project, which Mike co-founded, is working across eleven strategically selected focus areas to establish the standards, practices, and new norms of social purpose business. Project leaders hope to see this made in Canada solution replicated in other countries around the world—and it’s already getting international thought leaders’ .
